Dilly Dally Records Facilities

Capturing the sound of the artist is the first, most important step in the recording process. Microphones available include a Rode NT1-A, an AKG ??? condenser, a Shure SM-58, an EV ???, an Audix ??? and a pair of Avlex ??? omnidirectional microphones.

At the heart of our recording studio is a PC running a customized Linux operating system. With real-time enhancements, recording latency is reduced to a mere 2 msecs. The Ardour recording system provides unlimited tracks and access to hundreds of software plugins for compression, reverb, EQ, and all sorts of signal processing. An array of outboard processors (compressors and reverbs) are also available for live use or post-processing of tracks.

An M-Audio Delta-1010 provides A/D conversion for 8 channels of input, D/A conversion for 8 channels of output, plus stereo SPDI/F and Midi synchronization.

A flexible mixing board allows us to easily create multiple simultaneous custom mixes for the recording artist.

A pair of Tannoy Active Reveal monitors allows the engineer (and the artist) to listen to mixes. The studio listening room is balanced for a relatively flat frequency reponse for critical listening.

Not to be overlooked is a well-supplied stash of herbal teas, coffees, sodas and snacks.
